GUGUMUKA REVIVAL

IGC launched its Gugumuka line (costumes and read-to-wear) at the Ndere Centre (2024). In this iconic space towering arches of elephant grass bundles, echo 'Obuganda' (the translation of 'Buganda' is ‘bundles’, signifying the strength in unity). In the culture of collaboration and togetherness, the IGC curated and co-produced event, was not just a showcase of IGC, but also of S.Official, Seamline Atelier, and Veryl Designs. A call to ‘awaken’ disavowed histories, the Gugumuka Revival event combined a runway with a powerful performance of dance, music and theatrics.
