NAIROBI DESIGN WEEK '25

At Nairobi Design Week 2025, IGC debuted in Kenya with its Gugumuka collection and Lubugo installation. The exhibition explored shared cultural heritage between Uganda and Kenya, particularly the symbolic links between the Mutuba tree and Kenya’s Mugumo tree. Audiences reflected on the fragility of indigenous practices, including the lost art of barkcloth making among the Kikuyu and from the Baobab tree bark in coastal regions of Kenya.
